LOST
IN SPACE
It goes beyond the blank spot on the bed
When you start missing someone
Who is still beside you.
It’s not the empty seat next to you,
But the deafening silence in the car
During long drives or caught in traffic.
It’s more than skipping a few meals
together,
It’s the conversations which have
suddenly stopped;
When “gone” comes before the actual
leaving.
It’s when that unique connection has
disappeared,
Replaced by a distance too large to
bridge.
And in its place, a vacuous space
Where your memories should have been.
